Ski-touring Iceland – “heli-assisted”
Iceland is a world class destination for ski touring, backcountry skiing and ski mountaineering. The center of activity is the Troll Peninsula in northern Iceland with vertical descents of up to 1500m, thousands of peaks and slopes for all abilities with abundant snow fall make this a paradise for skiers and mountaineers.
The ”heli assisted” program included helicopter transport in and out from the untouched terrain plus some bonus heliski drops. This is the perfect way to enjoy and ski deep field terrain without any other skiers fighting for the best snow or the best runs.
Skitouring Iceland – Area
The Troll Peninsula and the Hidden Land are every skier's dream, with around 90% of the mountains skiable and very few cliff faces or flat sections. The terrain ranges from steep couloirs and faces to wide-open glacier runs.

Karlsa Lodge
Built in the late 1920´s but since renovated, the main house is a great example of the architecture and style of the era and all efforts have been made to retain the style and charm of the original structure. After a day of exploring nothing beats relaxing in the outdoor sauna or soaking in the hot tub with the view of the mountains across the fjord. With its amenities and prime location, Karlsá is the perfect location to base out of on your adventure in North Iceland.
Karlsá has 7 bedrooms that can be configured to sleep single guests, twin beds or up to 3 beds in one room. Amenities include duvet covers, free WiFi, an espresso machine, and an outdoor sauna and hot tub for our guests to relax and unwind.

Itinerary
- Day 1
–Arrival day
– Pick up at Akureyri in the late afternoon followed by a 40 min transfer
– Meet & greet and welcome dinner. - Day 2
– The morning is spent on detailed transceiver and avalanche rescue training followed by a helicopter safety instruction.
– Drop off on our first peak of many for the week ahead - Day 3-4 (or 6)
– Our guides set the pace and rhythm of the Program so that everyone enjoys the fullest - Day 5 or 7
– Departure day
– This is the last day of skiing. After a good breakfast and sorting out our luggage we head out for our final day. After skiing we transport you back to Akureyri.

You should be a good skier or boarder with experience from off-piste and backcountry skiing.

All skiing or boarding is performed above treeline in high alpine terrain.
If weather stops us from ski-touring we have the option to relax on the boat, deep sea fishing or land excursions with the zodiac boats.
On our Ski by boat trips no refund is offered.
We operate with 5:1 guide ratio and a maximum of two groups per trip.
Yes, it does not effect our choice of terrain or effect your experience with us.
We have no doctor on board the boat. The nearest doctor is located in Ilulissat and Sisimiut.
No, and no GSM cover. Sat.phone can be borrowed from us if very important calls.
On the boat everything is included except alcoholic drinks (invoiced post trip) so no payments onboard the boat is necessary. Entry fee and final payment are made against invoice via bank transfer.
On Greenland the power plugs and sockets are of type C, F, E and K. The standard voltage is 230 V and the same works on the boat.
