Our vessel in Greenland – Terschelling
The Terschelling Arctic Expedition Ship was built in the Netherlands in 1963, meticulously crafted to meet the rigorous standards of Lloyd's Register for Ice Class 1 vessels. Named after the picturesque West Frisian Island where it was stationed, the ship was originally commissioned by the Dutch Coastguard to serve as a buoy layer and lightship tender in the treacherous waters of the North Sea.

Now, under new ownership, Terschelling embarks on a new chapter as an Arctic Expedition Ship. With its robust seafaring capabilities, ice-class hull, and reliable engine, it is perfectly equipped to transport guests to the world’s most remote, ice-covered regions.

Land of the polar bear
Ski-touring area
Svalbard is located between 75-80 ° North latitude. The climate is affected by the archipelago's location in the Northern Arctic Ocean, where a branch of the Gulf stream current flows up past Svalbard's western and partly northern coastline. This combined with the other surrounding cooler sea water is the main contributing factor to the regions abundance & wide variety of breathtaking wildlife.
Access is generally by boat. Sea ice conditions, which can change extremely quickly, can dictate which areas are accessible or not but you can rest assure that our personnel will do everything they can to give you the experience of a life time.
